The Position: Director of Manufacturing & Operations

We are looking for an experienced, organized leader to manage and grow operations and manufacturing functions for OTTOLOCK and future products. This position will be responsible for manufacturing operations, supply chain management, inventory, KPIs and associated back-end business and accounting systems.

The position will report to the President and work very closely with the VP Sales and other team members. The position will have some direct reports, including production personnel. The successful candidate is both hands-on and high-level, and can grow with the business into an even more senior role.

OTTO DesignWorks currently operates its business in Wilsonville OR in a start-up environment with services and space support from DWFritz Automation, Inc.

Key Responsibilities

· Hires, manages and develops production personnel to serve demand. Quickly onboards and integrates temporary resources during influxes of production volume.

· In concert with the President and VP Sales, develops KPIs and drives results in operations. Cost reduction and capacity objectives are critical year one strategic focus areas. Implements appropriate weekly/monthly reporting to all needed parties.

· Oversees and reports accurate and timely inventory control.

· Owns and develops manufacturing culture, processes, and quality systems

· Leads supply chain evaluation, selection, development, and management for future growth and cost reduction. Additionally, develops operating plan for supply chain logistics.

· Optimizes and installs practical, yet size specific, demand planning/MRP management tools.

· Collaborates with controller/accounting on product costing and standards.

· Supports and advises on new product implementations.

Required Skills, Knowledge & Experience

· Passionate, proactive, self-starting entrepreneurial spirit and willingness to be a jack-of-all-trades leader to fill orders with quality products in order to build the OTTO Brand.

· Ability to effectively work in a small team environment with occasional overlapping areas of responsibility. This requires transparency of information, clear articulation of needs, giving and receiving constructive feedback, proactive collaboration with team, and a flexible, do-what-it-takes attitude.

· Proven skills in driving strategies to move a business forward.

· Strong written and oral communications skills. Reputed as a strong “people person” who can align workforce and communicate business needs and goals.

· Very strong business and financial accounting acumen in order to provide and present analysis of costs, capacity, and variances.
· Strong technical acumen such that person can communicate with technical personnel in-house (Chief Engineer) and with suppliers.

· Proven experience with implementation of LEAN and quality systems into production system.

· Proven ability to build relationships and negotiate good deals/agreements.

· Demonstrated ability to meet schedules/targets and reliably manage multiple activities in parallel

· Shows the wherewithal, emotional intelligence, and desire to evolve and grow in a very fast pace and highly dynamic environment.

Education & Experience

· 7-10+ year’s progressive experience in manufacturing/operations roles with proven direct supervisory and leadership experience in production/assembly environment.

· Strong understanding of MRP/ERP processes and experience in taking a business to next level.

· Proven orientation towards customers and ensuring their needs are addressed in order to build company Brand position.

· Demonstrated experience in logistics, product costing, and supply side management.

· BS/BA in Business Administration, Accounting, Engineering, or equivalent; MBA a bonus.

Job Conditions/Notes

Working conditions include flexible and occasional extended hours in specific periods to service customers. Compensation commensurate with candidate experience.
